On the delay between posts

July 24th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Once again it has been a while since my last post, so I thought I would fix that by posting this, but also take the opportunity to explain why. As a research scientist, information is my stock-in-trade. We are good at searching for information, analysing information and/or creating information. Information is what we do. So when I thought about writing a blog, I didn’t want it to be full of information that is already posted on a hundred other web sites, such as yet another digital camera review, or what I thought about the latest Batman movie or how the liberals killed the economy by selling off many of Australia’s major government owned assets making the government dependent on taxation revenue for its income etc. Instead I wanted to write a blog with good practical information that was difficult to find elsewhere.

The things that I post here are generally things that I have needed to look up my self and have been extremely frustrated by when I wasn’t able to find the information I needed very easily. I decided that when I did find the answers that it would perhaps be useful for other people if I posted them online so that others will hopefully not have the same difficulty finding this information that I did. The reason it takes so long between posts then is that it takes time to produce the information that I post here. I am currently working on three posts which will hopefully be up in the near future. They are:

  • A tutorial for 3D modelling in the software package 3ds Max
  • A method for producing an investment return of greater that 10% pa using ASX 300 shares
  • Trialing an effective method of filming under infrared light in the laboratory

Thanks for reading!

There is so much to read on your blog since I haven’t been here for a while, but I’m going to bed now so I will catch up on it tomorrow.
