As I mentioned in a previous post (see Donor Children), when I was 21 I was a sperm donor in the Monash IVF program down in Melbourne. As of January 2008 my donations had been used to make 16 children for 11 different families. The first birth that resulted from my donations was a daughter in January 1999. I realised the other day that she would have turned 13 this year. Whereever she is I hope she had a great birthday and really enjoys her teens it is a great time with so many new things to experience. I still wish there was a way of checking up on all my kids to see how they are all doing and what they are up to.
My fourth oldest, a daughter, was also born in January. She was born in 2000 so she would have just turned 12 this year and my youngest child, also a daughter, was born in February 2006 and so will be turning 6 this month.
So over all, as of today I have 9 girls and 7 boys. The eldest is a girl who is 13, the next are two girls and a boy who are 12, the next is a boy who is 11, then two boys, a girl and twins (a boy and a girl) who are all 10, then two girls who are 8, then a girl and two boys who are 7, then my youngest who is currently 5 but who is turning 6 this month. So keep well all of you, and once again happy birthday to number 1 and 4 and a special happy birthday to my youngest.

So, Sheik Haydn Hussein Bin Duin A-Bit-A Spankin, that’s remarkable, which is probably why you remarked upon it.
Is there a statute of limitations on the number of Inseminations?????? (to guard against the odds of any parings of otherwise “unrelated” “siblings”)

Yes, they can only use a donor for a maximum of 10 families these days. A clerical error since one of the families was from interstate meant that I was used for 11 families. So while there is no limit on the actual number of children produced, there is a limit on the number of families that can use you, so effectively there is a limit on the number of children too.

Awesome stuff! I donated some eggs last year but sadly none of them hatched.
Sometimes I think about doing it again, but egg donation isn’t anywhere near as pleasurable (ok, so not really the right word – but you know what i mean) as sperm donation.

That is a shame Dannii. I could imagine egg donation would be much more difficult. Finding the eggs in order to harvest them must be next to impossible. They are so small!!! Plus eggs only live for about 24 hours once they are out so everything has to be that much faster, whereas sperm live for up to seven days or so. Plus with an egg it is the one egg or it is nothing whereas there are millions of sperm produced specifically so even if millions die there are still millions left to do the job. Insemination is very much the job they were built for.

Yeah, and what about guarding against niece and nephews hooking up with their biological cousins, aaaaarrg! Haydn you could be both the grandfather and great uncle to their offspring and I would be both the grandmother and great aunt, eeeeeeewwww!!!!
